René Fasel, who is going to step down as the IIHF's president on September 25, is the only addition to the Hall of Fame this year.

Fasel was elected as president of the International Ice Hockey Federation in June 1994. 27 years later, he is going to step down on Saturday. One day prior to him leaving the IIHF, he will be inducted in to the Hall of Fame by former Russian superstar Igor Larionov.

All in all, he will be the eighth Swiss who is going to join the Hall of Fame. Swiss players Mark Streit and Mathias Seger, who would have been inducted during the cancelled 2020 IIHF World Championship will now have their ceremony during the 2022 World Championship in Tampere, Finland.
