Apparently, the Lions have practically lost all hope of a return of Robert Nilsson. The 34-year-old, who still has one year left on his contract in Zurich, is still suffering from a concussion. As he continues to make little progress, he is currently in treatment in a clinic in Göteborg, the NZZ reports.
As a consequence, the ZSC has decided to look for another import-forward in order to alleviate Nilsson's absence. Up to this point, they left the fourth import-spot open so that the new head coach can have a say in the matter. With Rikard Grönborg inked to a two-year deal, they can now start screening the market.
So far, the Lions have three import-players under contract for the upcoming season: Defenseman Maxim Noreau (), as well as forwards Frederik Pettersson () and Garrett Roe ().
