The 21-year-old restricted free agent will receive the opportunity to keep in shape with the National League team.

"There is some space in our lineup, so we can offer him both team practice and extra training," Kari Jalonen tells Ilta-Sanomat, adding that he got the green light from SC Bern's management to invite Patrik Laine to Bern.

Laine will, however, definitely not suit up for the Bears this season. As Jalonen states, they have a bit of "shared history" and as a Finnish coach, he wants to help Laine out: "In addition, our young players, in particular, have the opportunity to see and learn from a world-class player. Great to have him here."

Patrik Laine is currently a restricted free agent. While the Winnipeg Jets' training camp started last Friday, the two parties are not close to resolving their contract dispute. Laine recorded 30 goals and 20 assists in 82 games last season.
