The 21-year-old is one of the NHL's Restricted Free Agents (RFA), who has not yet agreed on a new deal with his current team, the Winnipeg Jets. Because of the ongoing negotiations it is also unclear for how long Laine will stay in Switzerland.
While he will keep in shape with SC Bern, it is highly unlikely that he will also suit up for them in a championship game, as he would risk an injury and thus jeopardize his contract negotiations with the Canadian team.
