Genève-Servette HC decided to sign him as an injury replacement for Henrik Tömmernes who is supposed to be out of the lineup two to three weeks due to a knee injury.

Jens Olsson last played for the Malmö Redhawks (four goals, 14 points in 52 games) and would have had a contract in place with the team for this season. However, according to Expressen, he was told last spring that he was no longer part of their future and would have to look for a new employer.
