Despite a valid contract with EV Zug, Giger, the agent of Hollenstein, might find, if needed, other solutions for the next season.

At the end of October, Luca Hollenstein signed an early extension to keep him with EV Zug until 2022, mainly as a backup of Leonardo Genoni. Now that Genoni is injured, Hollenstein replaced him well, winning the games against EHC Biel and Tappara Tampere.

Despite being only 19 years old, his good performances raise the question if he would be able to cover soon the role of starter in another club. In this regard, Dani Giger, the agent of the goaltender, is not worried about the early extension, as Klaus Zaugg reports his words in the Aargauer Zeitung: "Depending on how it goes, I'll get him out..."

This season, Hollenstein suited up for two games and a half (165 minutes), posting a 93.65% save percentage and recording a 1.46 GAA (goals-against average). He also played four games with the EVZ Academy, posting a save percentage of 90.54%.
