If there is no adequate Swiss goalie on the market, EHCB will be looking for an import-goalie who has already played in Europe.

"We want to rule out as many uncertainties as possible," EHC Biel's team manager Martin Steinegger says to the Bieler Tagblatt. With "uncertainties" he means in this case the danger that a goalie who has mainly played in North America might have problems adapting to the larger rink-size in Europe.

Two options of players who already played in Switzerland this season, both having an expiring contract, might be the ZSC Lions' Joni Ortio or SC Bern's Tomi Karhunen. "I like them both," Steinegger says.

The position of the backup goalie or maybe of a co-starter has already been settled in Biel: On Thursday, current backup Elien Paupe, 24, has extended his contract with the Seelanders for another two years.
