As Finnish portal Jatkoaika.com already reported last week, Topi Jaakola will be joining the ZSC Lions. The 36-year-old brings the experience of multiple seasons in the SHL, the KHL and his native league, the Liiga. Until his transfer, he was part of the Lahden Pelicans since last summer.

"If something were to happen, Topi will be an important alternative to us," Sven Leuenberger says in regards to possibly losing more blueliners to injury. "Topi is a complete defenseman and, in my eyes, a character-player. He is aware of our situation and wants to help the team as much as possible in the upcoming important part of the season," the Lions' team manager continues.
