The day after officially announcing the signing of Linus Omark, Genève-Servette HC confirms that Tommy Wingels, 32, has decided to end his career as a professional hockey player. He wants to return home, not far from Chicago, to enjoy his family and friends. This means that the club only has three import-players under contract for the upcoming season: Omark, Henrik Tömmernes, and Daniel Winnik.

Wingels only has good memories of his time with the Grenats: "The last two seasons in Geneva have left countless memories, experiences, and encounters that my family and I will never forget. But I am now ready and eager to return to my hometown to start a new chapter in my life."

For his part, Chris McSorley, team manager of GSHC wishes Wingels only the best: "Tommy Wingels made the decision at the end of the season to end his hockey career. Rarely have I met a person as conscientious in his work as Tommy has been. It has been a real pleasure to be able to work with him these past two seasons and I wish him all the best for his next career."
