"Let our players play hockey!" This is what the presidents demand from the Federal Council, which is expected to announce further measures against the Coronavirus on Wednesday. If not, they expect financial help: "If they [the players] are not allowed to do this in front of people with emotions because you have forbidden it, then compensate us for this and grant 'à fonds perdu' contributions."

The presidents claim in their letter that their protection concepts work and that there have not been any super spreader events "neither in nor outside the arenas, neither before nor after the games." They also argue that all clubs have reduced costs and achieved or are about to achieve substantial salary reductions "for top salaries, for players, for other employees."

"We must not let the Covid-19-Virus dictate our lives and forbid us from living," they demand from the Federal Council. "Make sure that Swiss ice hockey does not fall victim to the Coronavirus and that we can finish the season." Read the full open letter here (PDF).
