With 541 NHL games under his belt, the 32-year-old returns to his native country. For the next three seasons, he will suit up for the ZSC Lions.

"Yannick is a strong and experienced defender," team manager Sven Leuenberger explains his choice. Weber, who has signed a three-year deal with the Lions, will above all reinforce their power play: "It was important to have a second right-shot besides Noreau after Pettersson's departure. Yannick will help us there with his very good shot."

The Blick already reported two weeks ago that while Weber was being courted by several Swiss teams, the ZSC Lions were rumored to be the front runners. Back then, team manager Sven Leuenberger denied that a deal was already in place with the 32-year-old.

Over the past 13 years, Yannick Weber appeared in 541 games in the NHL (32 goals, 68 assists) for the Montreal Canadiens, the Vancouver Canucks, the Nashville Predators, and most recently for the Pittsburgh Penguins. For the Penguins, however, he only appeared in two games this season.
