The recent injury of Ivars Punnenovs and the performance of Gianluca Zaetta has forced the Tigers to have a look at the goaltending market.

"Yes, our team manager is in talks with Langnau," HC Davos' CEO Marc Gianola tells Klaus Zaugg (Watson). He also added that it would be possible for Robert Mayer to join the SCL Tigers with immediate effect on a loan basis: "However, I don't think it will already be done by Tuesday."

Davos and the Tigers will face each other on Tuesday, which is why it is very unlikely that they will reach an agreement (if they will reach one) by then. According to the Berner Zeitung, the Tigers will recall Damian Stettler from EHC Winterthur for the time being.

HC Davos has been on the lookout for a fitting team for Robert Mayer for a while now. They did have inquiries from HC Ajoie and HC Lugano, but they were not able to reach a deal with them. Also, the goaltender has the last say in whether he will accept a given offer, after all, he has a valid contract in place with HCD until the end of the 2023-24 season.

As for Punnenovs, who is, as Blick reported today, currently sidelined by a concussion, his contract will expire at the end of this season. The Tigers have issued a first contract offer to him. According to Zaugg, his salary would be cut by CHF 100,000 if he were to accept the Tigers' initial offer.
