National League

The former EV Zug forward might just find his way back to Switzerland after one season in Czechia.

Erik Thorell to make a comeback in the National League?

According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), Erik Thorell has recently signed a two-year contract extension with Sparta Praha, but the deal, which has not yet been officially announced, apparently contains an out clause for the National League.

Marc Eichmann, team manager of SCL Tigers, confirms that they are interested in acquiring the Swede. As sources from Prague tell Zaugg, the Tigers and Thorell have already been able to come to an agreement regarding the length of the contract (one year), but not yet the financial aspects. Apparently, they are, however, not far apart.

Asked whether the Tigers are also interested in HC Thurgau's Ian Derungs, who currently leads the Swiss League in goals with 33, Eichmann states that they looked into him but that they wanted to focus more on their own young players, especially since it is not clear whether Derungs would also be able to show his talent at the National League level.
