National League

As the Berner Zeitung reveals, team manager Marc Eichmann and the 56-year-old Dane have spoken on the phone several times this week.

Will there be a familiar face behind Langnau's bench next season?

Ever since firing Jason O' Leary in January, the SCL Tigers have been looking for a head coach for the 2022-23 season. With several doors closing (e.g. GCK Lions' Michael Liniger has apparently rejected an offer, interim head coach Yves Sarault is rumored to be joining HC Sierre), another one has opened, and it is a known one.

Heinz Ehlers already coached the SCL Tigers from 2016 to 2020. At the end of the 2019-20 season, he then left the Emmental because he felt exhausted at that time. The last two years, Ehlers has kept his job as head coach of the Danish national team, a job for which he has a contract for one more season. A dual mandate, however, is not out of the picture.

It will thus have to be seen if Heinz Ehlers and Marc Eichmann, who spent four years together as head coach and goaltender from 2009 to 2013 in Langenthal, will be able to find an agreement.
