Joren van Pottelberghe will be out of EHC Biel's lineup longer than expected. Team manager Martin Steinegger will thus have to look for a solution.

The injury of van Pottelberghe, who was injured on March 12, was more severe than anticipated: one of his ligaments was partially torn and he underwent surgery last week. According to the Bieler Tagblatt, he is expected to be out for six to nine months.

Van Pottelberghe will thus definitely miss the start of the season. While they will have Simon Rytz at their disposal, they might also have to add another goalie to their roster. "It's too early to discuss how we will react to his absence," Steinegger states. "First we have to bring the emotions down to a level where you can think more clearly again. Only then will we look at how to proceed at the goalie position."

As for the defense, the Seelanders have nine defenders under contract for the upcoming season. Noah Schneeberger, for his part, is not (yet) one of them. Steinegger does, however, see his value: "Schneeberger has lived up to expectations. [...] In the beginning, he still lacked a bit of confidence. But in this series, he was one of our best players."

While Schneeberger's future should soon be known, the fate of Miks Indrasis and Lauri Korpikoski is already clear according to the Journal du Jura: they will have to look for another employer for the upcoming season.
