Due to familiar reasons, Nygren has decided to leave HC Davos at the end of the season and return to his home country.

After six years in yellow and blue, Magnus Nygren will bid farewell to HC Davos and Switzerland. As Nygren explains on the website of HC Davos, the main reason for his return to Sweden is that his oldest daughter will begin school next year. At the moment, the 32-year-old has not signed for any club in the SHL but a few days ago it was reported that Färjestad BK, Nygren's former club, met with him.

"It was an incredibly hard decision, not only for me but also for my wife. It was not only very difficult for us, but even today, days after the decision, it is still highly emotional," states the Swede. "The club and the city have become a second home for me and my family" continues Nygren.

Through the words of team manager Jan Alston, HC Davos regrets but also understands Nygren's departure: "Yes, it's a great pity. We lose in Magnus not only a good player but also an important leader in the dressing room and a very good person".
