Christian Dubé is busy building his team for the 2023-24 season. How the team will be put together is not yet entirely locked in.

"We will see what the market offers, but starting with three centers is an option," the team manager of HC Fribourg-Gottéron tells La Liberté. Ryan Gunderson (defender) and Marcus Sörensen (winger) are the Dragons' only import players who have a contract beyond this season, so he would have to add several new players to the team.

As for the defense, Dubé still wants to have two import players for his defensive core but he is looking for a player "with a little more offensive ability." Juuso Vainio, who is the team's current second import defenseman, will likely not play another season for the Dragons.

Dubé decided in December to not activate Vainio's option for another season. While he said at the time that this did not necessarily mean that they would not come to some sort of agreement for the next season, it has become clear that he is likely no longer in the plans of Dubé: he has only played two games in January.
