Antonio Rizzello joins the GCK Lions from the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, where he spent most of his career. With the Lakers, Rizzello won the Swiss Cup in 2018. In the same year, the club was promoted from the Swiss League to the National League.

"Antonio has a backpack full of experience, which he would like to share with our young players. As the Lakers' long-time captain, Antonio also brings leadership to the game. He should and will be a role model for us" says team manager Patrick Hager.

So far, Antonio Rizzello has played a total of 869 games in the National League and Swiss League, collecting respectively 155 and 143 points. Apart from Rapperswil, Rizzello also played one season in Langnau and one in Fribourg at the beginning of his career.

GCK Lions also announced the retirement of captain Tim Ulmann. The forward, who grew up in Zürich, played 378 games for the Swiss League team (188 points) and played 62 times with the ZSC Lions in the National League. With the exception of a two-year stint in Lausanne, Ulmann was under contract exclusively with the GCK. The 31-year-old is retiring from ice hockey and is switching to the private sector.
