After several interviews with different candidates, the Oberaargauer decided in favor of Melichar. He fulfills the profile and convinced also humanly. Kevin Schläpfer, team manager of the club says: "Jeff and Jan are an ideal team that can continue to develop the young and dynamic squad".
Melichar was a professional ice hockey player for 20 years in various European leagues as a defender and played for the Bracknell Bees (UK), Swindon Wildcats (UK), and EHC Freiburg in Germany. After his professional career, he moved for the 2009-10 season to the Slough Jets (UK) as an assistant coach. This was followed by two seasons at Okanagan Hockey Academy U16 (UK) and five years as an assistant coach with EHC Freiburg. From December 2018, he served as head coach of the German club.
