Whereas the two Canadian forwards will stay with the Mice for one additional season, the head coach's contract is expiring.

Dion Knelsen has earned himself an additional year in Olten.

Dion Knelsen and Garry Nunn, both arrived in Olten in 2019, have signed a one-year extension. EHC Olten was thus able to secure for one more year the skills of their two best scorers of the 2020-21 season: Knelsen recorded 65 points, while Nunn managed to collect 76 points.

As for Fredrik Söderström, the 43-year-old Swede told the Oltner Tagblatt that he has no idea if he still will be the head coach in Olten next season: "I have no idea! My contract runs out. And we haven't had any concrete talks yet about how to proceed."

Söderström also reveals that he would not mind staying: "What I can say: I have come to love this club. It has a lot of good people here with whom I enjoy working. I have no reason to run away from Olten, and I don't have to be ashamed of the work I've done".

Another open position in EHC Olten's coaching staff is the job of assistant coach: interim-assistant Rolf Schrepfer should return to coach EHC Arosa, with which he has an obligation, but the Oltner Tagblatt speculates that Schrepfer might stay, as he is popular with the players and made a good impression in Olten.
