Luca Sbisa was placed on waivers yesterday and was supposed to join the Anaheim Ducks' organization. However, the Jets had other plans.

Elliotte Friedmann (Sportsnet) was the first to report that the Winnipeg Jets have claimed Luca Sbisa off waivers. Instead of sunny California, it will thus be "Winterpeg" for the defenseman. The Jets have confirmed the transaction. According to Darren Dreger (TSN), the two parties have been in talks for a while.

If he had joined the Ducks, he was expected to sign a one-year, one-way deal and to join the San Diego Sea Gulls, Eric Stephens (The Athletic) reported yesterday. According to CapFriendly, he did indeed sign a one-year deal worth $750,000 with the Ducks. The Jets will take that contract on.
