A member of the Blue Jackets since 2015, Dean Kukan has been awarded a two-year contract extension.

"Dean is a smart and quick, puck-moving defenseman that has improved steadily since joining our organization in 2015. We are very happy that he will continue to be an important part of our club's deep and talented group of defensemen," Columbus' General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen comments the new contract.

Currently sidelined due to a knee injury, the 26-year-old has made 33 games for the Blue Jackets so far this season. In the years before that, he suited up 54 times for the franchise's NHL-team and 159 times for the AHL-team. Kukan has also worn the Swiss national team jersey 58 times.
