The award is presented to the player who contributes the greatest amount of success to the Sharks in the 2019-20 regular season. The award has been handed out since the 1991-92 season.

Timo Meier recorded 22 goals and 27 assists in 70 games for the San Jose Sharks, leading the team in points and averaging 17:17 minutes on the ice per game. For the third consecutive season, he reached the 20-goals mark.
