As Watson reported this weekend, Hofmann's agent was looking for a one-way deal for the forward, so that Hofmann will not earn less if the Blue Jackets decide to send him to the AHL. With Hofmann leaving in direction of the NHL despite a running contract, EV Zug is allowed to line up five import-players next season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired the rights of Grégory Hofmann from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft on February 13.
Hofmann just comes off his second career National League title, his first one with EV Zug. In 38 regular-season games, Hofmann recorded 18 goals and 23 assists.
