Brennan Othmann, who is a Swiss-Canadian dual citizen, joined EHC Olten in late November in order to get some playing time during his draft year. Due to Covid-19, the entire OHL season was canceled.

Othmann suited up in 34 regular-season games (seven goals, nine assists) and four playoff games (one goal, one assist) for the Swiss League team.

As for Mason McTavish, he, too, was looking for an opportunity to play during his draft year. He is in possession of a Swiss players’ license and was born in Switzerland (his father is Dale McTavish), but he had to wait until he became 18 to apply for a Swiss work visa and thus only joined the Mice in February.

He appeared in 13 regular-season games (nine goals, two assists) and four playoff games (two goals, five assists) for EHC Olten.

Only two players were drafted ahead of McTavish: Owen Power (University of Michigan, NCAA), who was drafted first overall by the Buffalo Sabres and Power's fellow teammate Matthew Beniers, who was selected with the second overall pick by the Seattle Kraken.
