According to The Hockey News and CapFriendly, Juho Okinuora's two-way deal with the Wings is worth $750,000. He will earn at least $375,000 in case he will have to play in the AHL. At the age of 31, the Finnish goaltender could thus make his NHL debut soon.
EHC Biel will thus have to start looking for a goaltender again. They signed Olkinuora to a one-year contract just before the World Championship in early May, due to the injury-related absence of their starting goalie Joren Van Pottelberghe. But, according to Blick, the contract included an out-clause for the NHL.
For the past three years, the Finnish goaltender played in the KHL for Admiral Vladivostok and, most recently, for Metallurg Magnitogorsk. At the IIHF Worlds with Finland, he posted a .948 save percentage and was elected as the most valuable player (MVP).
