That is what Watson's Klaus Zaugg reports, relying on several close confidants of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. However, according to Zaugg, Fischer's new contract apparently contains opt-out clauses for the SIHF that are linked with the national team's performance at the upcoming World Championships.

The SIHF has invited to a press conference on Thursday morning about "The future of the Swiss national team" where they are, among other things, expected to announce the said contract extension deal. "I can't say anything about it. But I certainly did my job," Fischer's friend and consultant Daniel Giger, who led the negotiations, tells the same source.
