Gatineau Olympiques' director of hockey operations says that the Swiss defender is not far from a professional contract back home.

The QMJHL's Gatineau Olympiques held a press conference on Sunday. There, as Martin Lahaie (Olymiques Nation) writes on Twitter, their director of hockey operations, Alain Sear, also talked about Swiss defenceman David Aebischer. Sear mentioned that the 18-year-old would not be far away from signing a professional contract in Switzerland.

Aebischer joined the Gatineau Olympics last summer. after being selected 82nd overall in the 2018 CHL Import Draft. He has suited up 30 times for them, recording two goals and nine assists. Recently, the defenceman was part of the Swiss team placing fourth at the World Junior Championships. Before leaving for Canada, Aebischer was playing in the system of HC Fribourg-Gottéron.
