Most recently, the 60-year-old has worked as a consultant to HC Fribourg-Gottéron's coaching staff around head coach Christian Dubé. In spring, however, the Dragons have decided to not extend his mandate.

In Hungary, Sean Simpson's goal will be to lead the team back to the top-level IIHF World Championship. For the past four years, the Hungarians have not been able to return to the circle of the 16 best national teams.

As head coach, Sean Simpson led the Swiss national team to a silver medal at the IIHF Worlds in 2013. On the club-level, he coached EV Zug, the ZSC Lions, and EHC Kloten. With ZSC, he won the Champions Hockey League and the Victoria Cup in 2009.
