According to Kristian Kapp (Tages-Anzeiger), Robbie Earl left the game in the 44th minute of play with a suspected concussion. Heldner, for his part, was ejected from the game. He received a five-minute major as well as a game misconduct penalty for Checking to the head.

"Nobody wants to injure an opponent. I hope he is alright and the injury is not serious," Heldner told Cyrille Pasche (Sport-Center) after the game: "It was a very violent collision, but I don't know what really happened. I'd have to look at the pictures, I can't tell whether there was a foul or not. I hope not. I just hope Robbie Earl isn't hurt. I got worried when I saw he didn't get up."
