HC Fribourg-Gottéron's Chris DiDomenico opened the scoring in the 42nd minute of play. Only a minute later, Samuel Walser recorded another goal for the Dragons. However, München quickly came back into the game, scoring in the 44th minute of play and tying the game in the 53rd minute.

As HCFG lost the first game against München with 2-4, the Dragons needed to at least achieve the same result to go into overtime. However, as the Dragons pulled their goalie, München managed to score another goal, thus making it impossible for HCFG to reach overtime.

HC Fribourg-Gottéron lost with an aggregated score of 4-7. The National League will thus not be represented in the quarterfinals of the Champions Hockey League.
