According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the IIHF Council has scheduled a conference call for Tuesday, in which they will discuss the situation. Given yesterday's press conference by the Federal Council, it certainly does not look good for the World Championships in Switzerland.

There is, however, also a report out there from the Russian news agency Tass, in which René Fasel confirms that he will meet Federal Councillor Viola Amherd on Monday to further discuss the situation in Switzerland.

They also have a quote from Fasel that states that he thinks they will wait until April 15 to make a final decision. In the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, he does, however, state something completely different: "In the meantime, events are moving swiftly. We cannot wait that long [meaning until April 15]."

Whichever it may be, Patrick Bloch, CEO of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation, is also still in the dark, as he tells the Journal du Jura: "We currently don't have more information." For now, they will still have to assume that the tournament will take place and think about how to make it all work.

"The players selected for the World Championships would have remained almost two months without competition," Bloch states. "It's a problem that we'll discuss over the next few days with Patrick Fischer, our coach, but also with the players."
