The decision not to apply for a rescheduling is mainly due to the considerable economic risks surrounding the current Covid-19-pandemic, Swiss Ice Hockey writes. As a consequence, the 2020 IIHF Worlds project in Zurich and Lausanne is definitely over.

Nevertheless, the SIHF hopes that a World Championship in Switzerland will be possible in the upcoming years. They are going to decide in the coming weeks when to register with the IIHF to host the tournament in another year. At the moment, the tournaments up until 2025 have already been assigned.

Fans who bought tickets for this year's World Championship in Zurich and Lausanne are going to receive a refund. They will all be contacted in the coming week until May 8.
