Olympic Games

Ahead of the Olympic qualification tournament, Austria's head coach Roger Bader has cut four players from his roster.

Patrick Spannring will not travel to Bratislava.

Among the players who will not travel to the Bratislava/SVK for the tournament is HC Thurgau's forward Patrick Spannring. "It's never easy to make decisions like this," Roger Bader says in a statement, relayed by Laola1. "Any of the four players deserved to be here."

Now, Austria's roster includes a total of 25 players. Among them are several players from Switzerland: Raphael Herburger and Bernd Wolf (both HC Lugano), Benjamin Baumgartner (Lausanne HC), Dominic Zwerger (HC Ambrì-Piotta), Patrick Obrist (EHC Kloten), and Stefan Ulmer (HC La Chaux-de-Fonds).

Also part of the Austrian team is the former ZSC Lions forward Marco Rossi, who is now part of the NHL's Minnesota Wild.
