The Canadian defenseman joins Lausanne HC from the NHL, where he played for the Colorado Avalanche for the past three seasons.

LHC confirms the arrival of Mark Barberio.

The confirmation of Mark Barberios move to Lausanne comes as no surprise. Already by the end of April first reports surfaced that the 30-year-old will leave the Colorado Avalanche in direction of Lausanne once the season in the NHL is over.

Petr Svoboda, Lausanne's Director of Hockey Operations, is convinced that Barberio will play an important part: "He is a player who will bring us stability and experience. He will also strengthen our leadership," Svoboda says.

Over the course of his career, Mark Barberio has appeared in a total of 281 games in the NHL (including playoffs) for the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Montréal Canadiens, and the Colorado Avalanche. He recorded 57 points (14 goals).
