A member of HC Fribourg-Gottéron since 2020, Benoît Jecker's contract expires coming spring. As he tells the Freiburger Nachrichten, he and his agent will see where the best fit would be for the defenseman to develop further and play an important role in the coming days and weeks.
There have been no talks with his current team yet, but Jecker states he did not want that anyway when he was not playing a lot. "Now I am more in a position of strength to negotiate. I want to perform well and then see if there is interest in me."
Jecker is interested in staying with the Dragons, but the competition there will be quite strong. In addition to the already signed Swiss defensemen, team manager Christian Dubé intends to have two imports on that position as well.
