The 35-year-old defenseman will be at the end of his contract in spring but he is not yet ready to hang his skates up.

"I have decided to continue for another year. We will see about the rest," Philippe Furrer tells La Liberté. "I would really like to stay in Fribourg. I am fighting for it."

The Dragons have one spot left in their defense for the 2021-22 season. Christian Dubé is still looking at his options. While Philippe Furrer might be an option for the team, he definitely needs to stay healthy in order to get a chance for a contract extension.

While the defenseman's first option definitely would be HC Fribourg-Gottéron, he can also imagine playing somewhere else, but "I don't see myself playing anywhere else but with a team, I've already played with." He is, however, not in contact with HC Lugano and SC Bern, the two other teams he has played for.
