One question is under what conditions the IIHF's tournaments, such as the World Juniors or the IIHF Worlds in Latvia and Belarus, will be able to take place. According to the Russian news agency TASS one option is to hold tournaments in a so-called "bubble" - by completely isolating players and teams - just like the NHL-playoffs.

As the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tretyak, told TASS, the IIHF wants to avert another cancellation of the World Championship by all means. Even if this means playing without spectators.

Moreover, also the location of the IIHF Worlds 2021 might come up because of the difficult political situation and the widespread protests in Belarus. Although the IIHF refuses to get involved in politics, they might be forced to take a stand: Latvia recently announced that they want to submit a request to co-host the tournament with a country other than Belarus.
